Information:

The Town of Westmoreland Park was begun with the purchase, in 1996, of 65 acres of land from the Marsh estate.

There followed a period of having the land developed into playing fields and many visits by the DEC to protect the freshwater wetlands within the Park boundaries.

 

 

Hours:
8:00am - 7:00pm. The Park gates are locked at Dusk.
Restrictions:
1.) HOURS – 8am to 7pm- no exceptions

2.) PARKING – In designated areas only

3.) FIRES – Restricted to designated fire receptacles

4.) WEAPONS – Firearms and fireworks are absolutely prohibited, no exceptions

5.) ANIMALS – All animals are prohibited, no exceptions

6.) MUSIC – Live bands and audio amplification equipment is prohibited; personal radio/CD/MP3 music is permitted at reasonable volumes

7.) SPEED LIMIT – Maximum 5 MPH: registered vehicles may be driven on the pavement only

8.) VEHICLES – ATV’s, mini-bikes and snowmobiles are prohibited except on designated authorized trails

9.) CLEANUP- It is the responsibility of the individual or organization reserving the park to ensure that all refuse and debris is picked up and placed into the appropriate garbage receptacles located at or near the pavilion. Please be aware a dumpster fee may be applied for large events (up to $100.00). Failure to clean up will result in forfeiture of deposit as well.

10.) CHILDREN – are to be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. If you rent or bring additional items to the Park such as a bounce house, you will need to provide proof of additional insurance coverage for those items and the Town will not be responsible for that equipment or any injuries or problems resulting from such

11.) THE USE OF ALCOHOL, DRUGS OR TOBACCO PRODUCTS IS PROHBITED

12.) *WAIVER* – All Park Reservations must be accompanied by a Waiver of Liability

Facilities:
The Town of Westmoreland has purchased this property to develop into a Town Park. Ball fields, hiking trails, basketball and tennis courts are planned for the future. Water has been supplied to the Park and during the spring of 2002, a rest room and storage building were constructed near the ball fields. The Town Board has had a septic system installed and a pond was developed in the "back forty". The pond still needs cosmetic work and we are still under construction! A fence was installed in the fall of 2002. Goalposts and baseball back stops went up in the spring of 2003. Many of the youth sports were played at the Town Park during the summer of 2003, as the Westmoreland Central School was rehabilitating their ball fields.

 

The Town sponsored youth teams continue to play at the park. A playground was erected during the summer of 2006, near the Pavilion and new certified wood chips were added to the playground in the spring of 2012.

 

With the help of a grant from the Edwin J. Wadas Foundation, the Town of Westmoreland installed a full basketball court during the fall of 2022.

Reservations:
RESERVATION RATES

For Pavilion ONLY- Park will remain open to the public.

Town Residents - $75.00 to reserve the pavilion and $75.00 deposit which is refundable if the establishment rules for the park usage have been followed. (Please submit payments in the form of two (2) checks.

Non-Residents - $125.00 to reserve the pavilion and $75.00 deposit which is refundable if the establishment rules for the park usage have been followed. (Please submit payments in the form of two (2) checks.

Church Groups – - $50.00 to reserve the pavilion and $50.00 deposit which is refundable if the establishment rules for the park usage have been followed. (Please submit payments in the form of two (2) checks.

Non-profit Children’s Organizations- Fee is waived, waiver of liability must be filled out. Insurance certificate may be required.

Reservations are on a first come, first served basis.

Please come to Town Clerk during office hours to reserve a pavillion.
